Remote Inpatient Coding Auditor (CCS Certification Required)
Job Title: Remote Inpatient Coding Auditor
Location: 100% Remote
Type: 12-month contract with strong potential extensions or FTE
Start Date: ASAP
Schedule: Mon–Fri, 7.5 hrs/day (37.5 hrs/week) with a mandatory 30-min lunch
Pay: Highly competitive, based on experience
About the Role
We’re hiring a CCS-certified Inpatient Coding Auditor to join a fast-paced, high-volume team. This fully remote role offers top-tier pay and the chance to grow into a full-time position. You’ll review complex inpatient cases, audit DRGs, coach coders, and boost documentation accuracy and compliance.
What You’ll Do
- Audit complex inpatient claims and documentation
- Ensure accuracy per coding and payer-specific guidelines
- Flag documentation gaps and recommend improvements
- Collaborate with CDI teams for better reimbursement + quality scores
- Provide coders with feedback and training
- Join regular coding meetings/committees
What You Need
- CCS Certification (Required)
- 3–5 years’ hospital inpatient coding/auditing experience
- Deep knowledge of ICD-10-CM, PCS, anatomy, medical terms, procedures
- EHR + encoder proficiency
- Ability to pass a coding assessment
- Strong written/verbal communication
- Able to work independently and remotely
Bonus if you have:
- RHIA/RHIT or 5+ years relevant experience
- Experience mentoring coders or training on trends
Assessment Info
Candidates must complete a 2–2.5 hour remote assessment (5 short and 3 complex audit scenarios). Monitored by a manager prior to scheduling an interview.
